SCREEN ELEMENTS
Block A block can be viewed as a logical unit of information on a screen. In ProcessDB, most screens are made up of two or more blocks, which are generally delineated by a box around a number of fields. The end user does not need to be overly concerned with the concept of a block; it is explained here so that the [Next Block], [Previous Block] and [Clear Block] function keys can be understood when referenced in the next section.
Records A record can be viewed as a single logical group of information within a block. A record corresponds directly to one row in a database table.
Fields Within each block are fields, represented by blank spaces where information can appear. A field on the screen is indicated by a highlighted rectangle whose size generally indicates the number of characters that can be entered. The descriptive name of the field is indicated by the text that appears on the left or above the field, referred to as the label.
