BASIC SCREEN NOMENCLATURE
The screens within ProcessDB were developed using Oracle Corporation's
Oracle*Forms product. With Oracle*Forms, the user can store, change,
retrieve, and work with information in an Oracle database. A form
or screen (the terms are used interchangeably) is an arrangement
of information on the screen of the user's computer terminal,
viewed through an Internet browser. Each screen is identified
by the screen ID which is displayed in the format PRDBnnn at the
top of every screen, along with the screen's title. The screen
ID is for system reference and can be used to identify a particular
screen when reporting any problems to Integrative BioInformatics.
At the bottom of every screen is the message line and the status
line. The message line is a line where Oracle*Forms display error
messages, prompts, help, hints, and other similar information.
This line is customarily the next to the last line on the screen.
When messages appear here, they should be read carefully as they
will usually tell the user what to do - how to correct an error,
a helpful comment for the entry of data, etc. The status line
is a line on the screen where Oracle*Forms displays information
about its current status. It is the last line on the screen. From
left to right, the status line may contain:
Record: Indicates the number of records retrieved by a query. Each time the user displays a record fetched by a query, the count is increased. When the last record has been retrieved, an asterisk (*) is displayed before the count.
Enter Query: Indicates that the user has pressed [Enter Query] and has not yet pressed [Execute Query] or [Exit/Cancel].
<List>: Displays when there is a list of values associated with the current field.
